Over the last three years, G2G Know-How has supported New Zealand’s AsureQuality to deliver food safety training and development programmes in Qatar.

The programmes have involved training Qatari food inspectors, demonstrating how to deliver food safety expertise to food processing operations, assessing local food inspection and compliance services, and implementing the recommended changes.

Food security and safety are major issues in Qatar, especially as it prepares to launch itself on to the tourist trail with major events such as the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It has the highest per capita income in the world and almost all food is imported.

The lead for the work came from an expat Kiwi who was assisting Qatar’s Public Health Department in its hunt for global food safety expertise. The initial request to G2G for food inspector training led AsureQuality to bid for two further contracts. G2G Know-How guided AsureQuality through the tender process given its valuable knowledge of the Middle East government and business environments.

Harry von Enckevort, AsureQuality’s Head of International Business at the time, said that “the result was a gratifying piece of work which has been hugely beneficial to the Qatari Public Health Department and demonstrated the world-class credentials and expertise of AsureQuality.”

Food safety

New Zealand exports its food to all markets around the world, and we understand how important it is for consumers to know where their food comes from, and how it’s made.
