In October, G2G Know-How hosted a delegation of senior officials from the US State Transport office who were visiting New Zealand to learn more about the road user charging system for diesel vehicles.
The visiting officials were also accompanied by the US Road User Charges Industry organisations as well as EROAD and Coretex and came as a result of longterm engagement between G2G Know-How and the US Mileage-Based Usage Fee Alliance (MBUFA).
The programme involved visits with the Ministry of Transport, New Zealand Transport Agency, Auckland Council, New Zealand Police, Road Transport Federation and the Automobile Association and resulted in a successful initial deal being negotiated.
Having the opportunity to showcase the success of the New Zealand model has now provided a valuable opportunity for the Ministry of Transport and New Zealand companies to continue the engagement regarding US road-user charging systems and we look forward to hearing how the relationship continues to develop.
